"What Jatoba throws down with their latest album is a secret language sandwiched between two guitars and a phat Double Bass. This sound is evidence of their own language in the making. Guitars, one for each ear, speak clearly in voices within mystic whispers. The Double Bass brings tones from the underground, collectively creating lyrics from language's transmitting like train rails and smoke signals, canyon echoes and signals through telegraph wires. Their poetic formations fly from Colorado to the North east." (Michael Shurtz, Billboard Magazine's former Editorial Cartoonists/Poster Artists for Bill Graham Presents)

Incorporating a unique blend of three extraordinary acoustic musicians, Jatoba redefines their sound through collective songwriting and extreme rhythmic improvisations. Through the Double Bass, Acoustic Guitars, Baritone Guitar, Mandolin, Sitar and harmonizing vocals, Jatoba displays a very eclectic arrangement of acoustic instrumentation. Jatoba is Jason Scaggs, John Jamison and Jeff Richardson.

Jeff Richardson is a student and performer of many varieties of music, both old and new, and has been a member of the southern Vermont/New Hampshire music scene for nearly a decade. Displaying a diverse palette of musical flavors, including jazz, reggae, funk, rock, metal, and classical genres, he has provided a solid foundation to a number of different groups, whose' respective repertoires span a sizable chunk of the musical spectrum.

Under the tutelage of Don Baldini, Artist in Residence at Keene State College, Richardson has been honing his bass techniques in the fields of classical music and modern jazz. In addition to the double bass with Jatoba, he is well versed in the ways of the electric bass and guitar, as well as having sufficient training in the brass family, primarily the tuba. He is currently studying musical composition, theory, history and literature at Keene State College.

Jason Scaggs is an inspired and dynamic singer/songwriter and a true artist on the Acoustic guitar, Baritone Guitar and Banjo. While maintaining his Appalachian roots, Jason has been studying within his own ways, learning by his own curve to help attribute zero cool percussive style from inspirations such as Michael Hedges to Cat Stevens just to name a few. Jason draws upon experiences from his many travels for inspiration and in the past decade has played across venues all across America, as far west as Hawaii. On stage Jason is inspired by the energy of his listeners and in turn inspires them to be fully open to the experience. His intense yet playful vibe creates an intimate space for a deep connection between artist and audience. Jason is heavily inspired by the musicians within Jatoba and freely adapts to the influences that this trio brings in their sound.

John Jamison has created a voice all of his own, creating harmonic duality with Middle Eastern tones and Western harmony. Within the past fifteen years Jamison has studied the traditional styles of Western music encompassing the blues, jazz, folk and the weird, all the while intertwining tinges of bluegrass. And having studied traditional Indian music under Ustad Roshan Jamal Bhartiya (a celebrated Sitar Master from India) John began to grasp the ideas and feelings that shaped the way he interprets his own style of acoustic music. Like a puzzle piece, Jamison's music falls right into place with the other members of Jatoba, inspired by them, creating with them and inspiring their music at the same time.

The three members of Jatoba first came to play music together in a band based out of Keene, Hew Hampshire and since then have progressed individually and as a whole to create a truly unique style of music. Collectively the members of Jatoba have shared stages/bills with musicians and bands such as Sage Francis, members of Dispatch, Lotus, RAQ, The Breakfast, The Ordinary Way and Deadwood Revival just to name a few.

The roots that Jatoba have planted will hold fast and continue to expand well beyond the aspirations that were founded in the beginning of Jatoba's life. Jatoba is a new beginning with no end in sight. Their music has and will continue to be praised by fans and musicians from all around the nation. With a strong start many people are on board to support an acoustic evolution which will hopefully bring Jatoba's music to the forefront of everyone's forehead. :)
